On the first day of school, you are welcome to stay for a little while to help your child settle in. Once you’ve said your good-byes they generally cry, but once you out of sight, they carry on with what is happening around them.
DROP AND GO
To encourage independence, please use the “drop and go” system to assist your child in settling in easier, a kiss goodbye and assurance that you will see them after school is very important.
Should anyone, other than you, be collecting your child from school, notification must be given to the school with the person’s name and ID number. No exceptions will be made!
Our school communicates by way of SMS and email to provide updates & reminders. A Newsletter is sent out to parents once a month.
Please make sure you keep the school updated, in writing, regarding any changes to telephone numbers, email addresses, physical address, etc.
Over and above school fees, you are required to pay for the stationery pack which the school arranges on your behalf at an additional cost of R350.00 per term.
The dignity of each child is respected at all times! Positive guidance is used to assist every child to substitute appropriate behaviour for inappropriate behaviour. Physical, verbal or emotional abuse is never used.
This is a special time for your little one and teaching your little one to use the loo has to be a fun experience! It is very important that the same must be encouraged at home. Pack spare clothes.
Sick children may not attend school. They need to be kept home to recuperate. If a child arrives at school sick you will be contacted to collect them immediately. Please keep them at home to get better.
OPEN DOOR POLICY
We have an open door policy and ask that all concerns or suggestions be brought to our attention immediately so that they can be addressed.
Mighty Ark Day Care Centre is a Christian based and family orientated school which depends on parent interaction. It builds bridges between home and school.
Medication brought to school will be administered as prescribed. Please make sure it is properly labeled and given directly to the teacher.
A nutritious breakfast, tea time snacks and hot lunches are served. All food is freshly prepared daily. Every Wednesday we have “my favourite fruit” so please send a fruit to school and we will make a delicious fruit salad.
Each child gets a turn to be the “Bakerman”. This takes place every Friday and your Teacher will be in touch to confirm when it is your child’s turn and how many children you will need to cater for.
EXTRA MURAL ACTIVITIES
Swimming and many more are on offer at the school. These are optional extras and take place during school hours unless otherwise arranged. Payment is made directly to the extra mural person involved.
Our menu changes on a weekly basis to optimise this nutrition requirement. Addition to this we do cater for any individual requirement and religious beliefs.
ACCESS AND SECURITY
Daily patrols are done by the security company. In order to safeguard the security of our children, the gate will be kept closed at all times and access will be by way of CCTV and the intercom system only.
